Amazing Comeback By Sony – PS4 Launch Sales

As many may know already, i didn’t get a PS4 at the release day. i never pre-ordered one as to me it is all about the games and not so much about getting the latest and greatest all the time.

I have had the pleasure to play with one for quite a few hours now and i like what i see but there are some really awkward things about the whole launch and state of the firmware and i will come back to that later on as first, i like to quote an announcement made by Sony themselves regarding the sales in USA and EU on their respective launch days.

– In what is shaping up to be a historic year for gamers, I?m delighted to share an important new milestone with you. PS4?s North American debut on November 15th was PlayStation?s largest ever, with more than one million gamers picking up a PS4 in just 24 hours. Now, with PS4?s global launch expanding to a total of 32 countries worldwide, including Europe and Latin America, I?m proud to announce that more than 2.1 million PS4s have been sold. –

Ok? where did all those 3.2-3.6 million numbers come from? , what about the DOA consoles? , was it 0.4 or was it more? , i know NO-ONE with a defective unit and that is quite a feat as my friends list(s) and forum friends lists are quite big and also the guys who claim they have a broken unit on forums have turned out to be liars and Xbox people trying to stir noise, by all means for those who got a DOA console, i feel for you and i think it’s sad that such happens.

Ok so the PS4 has so far broken every record possible in terms of a console launch day, it sold out in less than 24 hours worldwide (ok, 32 countries), people who pre-ordered in June turned out to be too late and much worse being people who turned up a few hours too late on launch day to pick up their pre-order one got the message “sorry, we sold it to another one as you never showed up!” , WTF????

Xbox One people are now trying to claim how the Xbone would have sold better as they didn’t have as many consoles and so on, how come i can spot videos on the net showing shops all over the world with units available? also how come did Microsoft only write shipped numbers and of course set it over the 1 million mark? and of course, they forgot to mention how it was worldwide shipped numbers while the first figure from Sony at 1 million and some was actually sold numbers and USA only… sorry xboners but you lost this one, things may change but right now Sony is leading by a long shot.

Ok, fanboy rant over now… but i will just have to say it again, why did Sony talk about 3.2 million available units before Xmas and then have something over 2 Million? , are they stored in the Escom Amiga Technologies warehouse in the Philippines?

Congratulations to Sony and all of the PlayStation fans and of course one have to congratulate Microsoft with the worlds second largest Shipped number of consoles on launch day ever…
