It Came From The Desert Remake. Game Announcement

As you guys know, this blog is mainly about Amiga, retro gaming and Sony consoles. Nonetheless, we always keep an open-minded attitude and our “radars” on to the spot and lock-on titles that we deem closely related to our main objectives or to our common past. Just as an example, we revied articles that were Nintendo-related or even full PC titles. The reasons behind that were related to the nature of the titles themselves, be them cyberpunk or survival-horror themed games.

Following this approach how could we miss the remake of a classic Amiga title, even if at the moment the game is a PC-only game? It may seem impossible to most people, but a remake of Cinemaware hit It Came From The Desert is under development, and the most incredible thing is that this is an independent non-profit project made by Josue Candela Perdomo.

As you can see from these beautiful GIFs Jouse, although using a modern hi-res graphics, is fully capturing the mood of the original game, both in terms of environments layout and choice of colors and lighting.

What I like the most is that the coder is, in a way, using an even more minimalist style than the original title. The reason why I like it so much is that in my humble opinion such design choice leaves more space to your imagination, thus allowing for a deeper immersion in the game.

Let’s now take a look at the first teaser trailer, that hopefully will give you a quick insight of what I’m trying to say.

One thing that I like even more is that Josue’s devlog videos are not simple teasers, but actually show how he is developing this title. For hardcore gamers like the ones here at AmigaGuru such devlogs are truly inspiring so we will be keeping the radar on to periodically report any improvement.
