Dad Make Pressie For Son – Santa Vs Dinos
Santa mixed together with dinosaurs, why on earth has that never been done before!
A few days ago, I came across something truly special. No, it wasn’t Santa Claus, but it was almost as magical. It was a post from Daniel Lakey announcing the release of a brand-new Amiga game.
What made this so heartwarming is the reason behind the project: Daniel created the game as a Christmas gift for his son. And what did his son want? A dinosaur game, of course (honestly, who doesn’t still want that?). So Daniel came up with the brilliant idea of combining Father Christmas with dinosaurs — and just like that, a new festive Amiga adventure was born.
He decided to call it Father Christmas Vs Dinos.
The idea behind the game is simple but charming: you play as Father Christmas, and your mission is to collect presents scattered across the screen and throw them at dinosaurs. The dinos come in all shapes and sizes — some fly, some don’t — but they all move quickly from side to side. It’s a straightforward design, and rightly so, as the game was made specifically for a child.
The game was created using BlitzBasic 2, and while the visuals might not rival AAA titles, Daniel is quick to point out that he’s not a graphics artist — and honestly, it doesn’t matter. The game has heart, and that makes it a lot of fun, even with its simple looks.
Even more heartwarming: Daniel’s son helped design the dinosaurs, which earns big kudos from us. It’s a true father-son project, and the passion shows.
As a bonus, the full source code is included in the archive — a lovely touch for those curious about how the game was built or perhaps even looking to learn from it.
You can download the game — Father Christmas vs. Dinos — directly here on the blog.
This is exactly the kind of gift we love to highlight: a heartfelt Christmas surprise that brought a big “aww” and a warm, fuzzy feeling to everyone here.
Merry Christmas from all of us at the blog! 🎄🎁🦖

LOL! It is fun indeed. Well done Daniel! And I bet the most fun part was spending time with your son.
Excellent stuff. 🙂
