God Of Riffs: Battle For The Metalverse – PSVR2 Review

The PlayStation VR2 is hands down one of the most exciting leaps in VR tech we’ve seen in years. Built for the PlayStation 5, it takes everything the original PSVR tried to do and cranks it up to the next level with features that make you feel like you’ve stepped into the game.
First up, the visuals are insane — we’re talking 4K HDR OLED screens with 2000×2040 per eye, so every world you enter looks razor-sharp with true blacks and vibrant colours. Add in eye-tracking with foveated rendering, and not only does the PS5 know exactly where you’re looking, but it makes the graphics pop even more by prioritising detail right where your eyes are focused.
The magic doesn’t stop with visuals either. The headset itself has haptic feedback, which means you’ll feel subtle vibrations when a dragon roars past, a bullet whizzes by, or the earth shakes beneath you. Pair that with the brand-new Sense Controllers — complete with adaptive triggers, precise finger tracking, and incredible haptics — and you’ve got a level of immersion that’s simply unmatched.
Setup is also refreshingly easy: one single USB-C cable. No breakout box. No spaghetti mess of wires. Just plug in and go.
And then there’s the games. From Horizon Call of the Mountain showing off the headset’s raw power, to AAA titles like Resident Evil Village and Gran Turismo 7 pulling you deeper than ever, to VR exclusives like Synapse or Switchback VR, the library is steadily growing into a must-have lineup.
Sure, it’s tethered and not as open as PCVR, but the sheer quality, ease of use, and immersion on PSVR2 make it a true game-changer for console VR.
If you’re looking for the most next-gen VR experience on the market right now, this is it.
