Despite the constant effort by the manufacturers around the globe to achieve the ultimate graphic card, capable of unspeakable jaw-dropping 3D effects there is still room in this World for beautiful and evocative 2D hand-painted products.

Among the ones who are still walking down this road Vanillaware, the well-known developer behind Odin Sphere and Dragon’s Crown, has did it again, this time crafting a sci-fi mystery epic spanning thirteen (yes 13, hence the name) intertwining stories.

This title was originally scheduled for a PS4 and Vita release back in 2018, with the portable version being later on canceled (aaaaargh!) and the PS4 version being released in Japan-only in 2019.

As a matter of fact, while everyone was expecting a kind of 2D brawler featuring huge mechs, 13 Sentinels is more than a visual novel than an action title of some sort yet, as always happens with this software house and its producer (Atlus), this is just another title one cannot miss.

Starting in a fictitious 1985 and then moving back and forth in time, the player will have to uncover the truth behind an unknown invasion by delving into a 2D sidescrolling adventure featuring gorgeous art and environments. Relationship with the other co-protagonists will be important, as important and compelling will be the battles against the kaiju (giant monsters) in fast-paced, top-down combat. Customize your Sentinels with an arsenal of mech suit weaponry, play with 13 different characters and fight to defend humanity! Enjoy the beatiful video (the game is now available for Western Countries as well) and please refer to the official web site for further news.
